BeanPACK (Agronomic Soybean Decision Support Tool) Is LIVE

(Updated: Nov. 4, 2024, 4:10 a.m.)

We are excited to launch the first iteration of BeanPACK (SoyBEANPlanting Analytics and Customized Knowledge) that will facilitate data-driven decision making on soybean planting date and maturity group selection across the state of North Carolina. Our goal in releasing the tool in October is that the data-driven information available in the tool could be used for making variety selections this Fall (2024) for planting in 2025. Read more about BeanPACK.

This creation of this tool was catalyzed by our connection to Computer Engineering expertise (Dr. Cranos Williams, Somshubhra Roy, and Viraj Sanap) through the N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative and generously supported by the NC Soybean Producers Association, the NC Data Science Academy, and N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative.

There is a tutorial available in the tool for using BeanPACK in the tool and you can also view the launch webinar

that was hosted on 10/1/24 using the information below.

As emphasized in the webinar, we do see some current limitations of the tool and have a planned evolution of the tool to address these limitations nonetheless we are proud of the tool at current and its ability to facilitate data-driven decisions.

If you need to report a bug for the tool or have suggestions for improving the tool, please use the 'report a bug' and following email (soybeanpack@ncsu.edu) in the footer of the tool to provide this information.
